Makita Expands Starlock System With 21 New Blades

I’ve been a big fan of the Starlock oscillating multi-tool system because of its easy and fast blade swaps. It’s so fast that blades literally snap on and off! That is unless you use Makita’s own XMT04ZB multitool. Makita has been one of the more recent big players in the Starlock system. Makita has just announced that they are expanding the Starlock system with 21 new blades.

Makita Starlock Blades

I like that Makita is very committed to the Starlock system. Especially when other brands have not yet adopted the Starlock mount. The 3-D cupped star shape is said to offer more contact area and greater torque transfer. I am not sure if it actually gives more torque than traditional blades but Makita seems to believe so. So much they say that it provides “greater torque transfer for increased work capacity in more demanding, extreme duty applications that require more power.” Their blades feature high carbon steel and tungsten carbide for performance and durability.

Color Coded For Easy Identifying

I’ve got boxes with multitool blades and I have to dig through them and read the markings to figure out which blades are for cutting what. The Makita Starlock blades are color coded for easy identification. So you can find the right blade for the job. For example, light blue is for metal, light gray for wood, and purple is multi-material.

Makita Starlock Blades feature

Makita makes quality tools and accessories and I gladly welcome their 21 blade additions to the Starlock lineup!
