Makita X2 36V 18V Brushless 2.1 Gal Dry Dust Extractor w/ AWS XCV22

Makita announced two new cordless products this week with one of those being the 36V X2 18V LXT brushless 2.1 gallon dry dust extractor / vacuum with AWS model XCV22.

Even though this vacuum may be new, it looks familiar to us and that’s because Makita has several models of these. They are small, short tug along vacuums that provide strong power thanks to them using two 18V batteries in series to bring the voltage to 36 volts. Historically these have been strong contenders in the cordless segment yet this model appears to be their strongest yet with a claimed 120 CFM air flow rate making them very strong vacuums! No doubt also thanks to it’s strong brushless motor. Some of these similar models offer both wet and dry suction however this particular model is dry suction only. It has a three stage HEPA filter included to keep the exhaust air cleaner with a filtration efficiency of 99.97% of .3 microns. Another notable feature on this model is that it’s equipped with AWS which stands for automatic-start wireless system which will automatically start when used with other Makita AWS equipped power tools. It also comes with an AWS transmitter. This is a very handy feature to give it the same functionality of many corded auto start vacuums but for cordless systems. Makita also says that it has a working sound level of 56 decibels although they didn’t mention how far away that measurement was taken as the farther away you are from a noise source, the quieter it seems. It also has two onboard battery indicators to display remaining battery life.
