Milwaukee announced their M12 soldering iron back earlier this year at their 2017 New Tool Symposium event.

  • Heats quickly, reaching operational temp in 18 seconds
  • REDLINK PLUS Intelligence monitors temp of the tip to power through demanding applications, and prevents against overheating or damaging wires
  • 3-stop pivoting head
  • LED work light
  • Available: November 2017
  • MSRP: $69 (bare); $129 (kit)

What’s neat about it is that it offers a cordless battery powered solution to a soldering iron for complete soldering portability.

A couple of neat features built into the Milwaukee M12 Soldering Iron is the pivoting head that allows to be used in a straight inline or at a right angle or in between for better positioning. The other interesting feature is a built in LED light that blinks green when the unit is heating up and turns solid green when it’s reached operating temperature which is a speedy 18 seconds according to Milwaukee. When you power off the unit the light turns red and stays that way until it cools off enough to be stored safely. Pretty neat safety feature built in. You also get the usual battery fuel gauge on the tool itself to monitor the remaining charge on your battery.

Runtime is a good 45 minutes with the 1.5ah battery according to Milwaukee. You can expect longer runtime if you use any of their higher capacity batteries.

When I wrote about the Milwaukee M12 Soldering Iron briefly earlier this year, Milwaukee had planned on releasing this product in October but they’ve since moved it over to be launched a month later in November 2017 although you can preorder using the link below. It will be priced at $69 as a bare tool and $129 as a kit with a 1.5ah battery, charger, Pointed Tip, Chisel Tip, and Case.
