Milwaukee introduces a strong new 18 volt rotary hammer with inline design with their latest M18 FUEL 1-1/4″ SDS plus D handle rotary hammer with ONE-KEY model 2916-22.

In a world where a more compact tool is viewed as being better as it can fit in a tighter area, this rotary hammer does the opposite with its inline design and D-Handle configuration that makes it longer. This is actually a benefit for certain applications as the added length gives it extra reach making it better for overhead work or so that you get a little extra bit of height when working when standing and drilling so you don’t have to bend as much as you would with a shorter drill.
This is a very powerful SDS plus rotary hammer and Milwaukee touts this as being a good lighter alternative to a larger and heavier SDS max rotary hammer and thus makes it a good option with good power at a smaller size. You may want to go with a larger SDS max unit if you will primarily be running larger bits. Still though, this 1-1/4″ SDS plus rotary hammer packs a wallop with a strong 3.65 ft-lbs of impact energy.
Its features include 3 modes of operation with rotary hammer, hammer only, and rotary only and also the ability to rotate the bit for when chipping. It has their AVS anti-vibration system and also has what Milwaukee calls “AUTOSTOP” which is their term for when the machine cuts the motor when the bit binds to keep the user safe. This is a nice safety feature to have so it protects your arms and wrists from getting strained if the bit binds. It also features ONE-KEY functionality so that you can track, manage, and secure your tool via your smartphone or tablet. It also has a side handle and LED light to help in low light situations.
It will be available October 2022 for $749 as a kit and $499 as a baretool. There is also an optional hammer vac accessory specifically made for this rotary hammer as shown below to help cut down on harmful dust.
