Grinders are all the same, right? No, no they’re not. Some have more features than others and while most feature a single trigger and optional side handle, Milwaukee has a dual triggered model with a permanently attached side handle.

The handle cannot be removed meaning the tool is always to be used with two hands on deck. The side handle even has it’s own built in trigger, hence the dual trigger design.

This is a safety feature as both triggers need to be pressed with both hands to operate. Much in the same way a braking grinder is a safety feature in which if they tool were ever dropped, the electronic brake kicks in and stops the tool for safety.

This grinder does just that and has the added layer of safety in that both hands are needed to operate. This means that the user will have greater control during operations as two hands are better than one. Then 15-position side handle can also be moved from left to right and even on the top position to suit the angle best for you.

Besides the electronic brake, it also has the added safety feature of AUTOSTOP. This is Milwaukee’s marketing term for when the blade gets pinched and experiences kickback, the tool will stop the motor on the spot to prevent user injury.

This grinder also has ONEKEY functionality which allows users to wirelessly track, manage, and secure their tools.

It also has variable speed with 4 speed settings 3,000 RPM and 9,000 RPM.

This isn’t Milwaukee’s first entry with a dual triggered braking grinder, and is their second model after the 2986-20 model we saw them release in 2023. At first glance this new model doesn’t seem any different. The two models like pretty much identical however there are some key differences. Specs are better on the newer model with a max capacity of 6 inch wheels and both a lower and higher RPM range than the original model. This suggests it has more huevos to get the job done. And even though it looks the same as the previous model, the stated dimensions are a little longer and wider and a little heavier.

Expect this new model to launch in November 2025 for $429 as a baretool.
