Milwaukee has announced the M18 FUEL Hatchet 8″ Pruning Saw 3004-20 which is a new 18 volt version of their M12 12 volt mini chainsaw.

Just like the M12 Fuel Hatchet, the M18 Fuel Hatchet is a smaller more compact chainsaw designed for pruning and hard to reach tight spaces where a larger saw either won’t fit or make sense. The pros of a smaller saw also mean you can climb trees with less weight to carry when only smaller branches need to be cut.
Though smaller than most chainsaws, the M18 Fuel Hatchet uses a larger bar and chain than their M12 counterpart, with the M18 using an 8 inch Oregon bar and chain. This makes it more capable thanks to its larger capacity and strong brushless motor which Milwaukee says allows the M18 Fuel hatchet to cut faster than 25cc gas engine pruning saws. Being powered by an M18 battery means easy push button starting, no pull starting, no fumes, no gas engine noise, and no mixing oil and gas, no gas engine maintenance, and it can reach full throttle in under a second.
Other features include a variable speed trigger, automatic oiler, metal bucking spikes, on board storage for the included scrench, and there are multiple tether options which come in handy when working high up. There is a tether ring on the tool itself and the scabbard has multiple tether holes.
It will be available October 2022 for $279 as a baretool.
