New Dewalt 20V 14″ Folding String Trimmer / Blower / Pole Hedge Trimmer

Back in September this year we had spotted two new Dewalt 20V cordless outdoor power tools with a new articulating head hedge trimmer and a new brushless leaf blower. When the hedge trimmer was spotted, it was a prototype with the actual product scheduled to be released sometime early 2020. When it came to the brand new XR brushless leaf blower, all we had was the picture to go by, no model numbers or specs but luckily for us, Dewalt has finally officially announced both of those products along with a new XR brushless 14″ folding string trimmer model DCST922 . The articulated head hedge trimmer goes by the official name 20V Pole Hedge trimmmer DCPH820 and the new XR brushless leaf blower is model DCBL722 . All three will be available Spring 2020 and each will come with a three-year limited warranty, one-year free service contract, and a 90-day money back guarantee.

Dewalt 20V XR brushless leaf blower DCBL722

I knew the new 20V XR brushless leaf blower DCBL722 would be their Gen 2 model with updated specs and the new model doesn’t disappoint as it has 450 CFM at 125 MPH making it slightly better than Milwaukee’s M18 Fuel Gen 2 blower with the same CFM’s but 5 more MPH. It’s also about 1.5 lbs lighter than the Dewalt original XR brushless blower now at 5.43 lbs. It has cruise control like the original but now uses a top mounted lever like the M18 Fuel models and uses a variable speed trigger. It doesn’t have 2 separate speed options like newer blowers do. The 20V MAX* XR® Brushless Handheld Blower will come kitted with (1) DCB205 battery for $199 MSRP (DCBL722P1) and without a battery for $139 MSRP (DCBL722B).

Dewalt 20V XR brushless 14″ folding string trimmer DCST922

The 20V XR brushless 14″ folding string trimmer DCST922 gets several upgrades across the board. Namely it gets a one inch larger cutting swath at 14 inches. It still uses dual line 0.80″ line but with the larger capacity I would hopefully expect a bit more cutting power. Let’s hope it does. Like its name says, it folds to save space and the pivot point looks to be very beefed up. The motor is still on the cutting head for direct drive and I like that it appears to have a full metal casing too. It’s also said to have a quickload head for quicker string replacement. Several things stay the same such as the same 2 speed operation with variable speed trigger, same 4600/6000 RPM along with a bump feed head. The weight is 7.9 lbs without battery. The 20V MAX* XR® Brushless 14″ String Trimmer will come kitted with (1) DCB205 battery for $199 MSRP (DCST922P1) and without a battery for $129 MSRP (DCST922B).
