New Dewalt 20V Flagship Hammer Drill DCD999 Spotted – It Claims 1219 UWO

Up until now the Dewalt 20V flagship cordless hammer drill has been the premium 3 speed DCD998 hammer drill that claims “over 1050 UWO” of performance. Now Dewalt appears to have surpassed that with a new model the DCD999 which is also a 3 speed premium high torque hammer drill now claiming 1219 UWO according to the Devonlube.com website where it was spotted. Edit 9/16/2020: It appears the website has pulled the original link.

The new DCD999 model looks very similar to the model that came before it, the DCD998 which looks similar to the DCD996 model that came before it that looks similar to the DCD995 model that came before it. The new DCD999 more closely resembles the DCD998 with a similar extra long side handle however the part of the handle that grips the tool is a dark gray color and the torque collar is slightly different with a new look and yellow accent. The metal gearbox cover appears to be slightly darker or it could be the same color but just appearing darker because of shadow and it has a badge that says: “20V” instead of the previous XR badge.

The overall body shape is very similar to the DCD998 however with a few cosmetic differences. It still shares a 3 speed transmission and also looks to have the new larger LED light that is very useful as a standalone flashlight that was introduced with the DCD996 model and appears to have the same mechanical slide switch to control the LED light settings.

Much like the DCD998 which has power detect which gives the max performance when using specific larger capacity batteries, the DCD999 also claims to get it’s best performance when used with a DCB606 60V MAX* FLEXVOLT battery.

Hector Toledo says he spotted this model on the Home Depot website before they quickly pulled the listing so it appears this new model should be coming out soon. The above image shows it sporting a Flexvolt “Advantage” badge on the rear instead of the wording “power detect” on the DCD998 model.

A big thanks to Hector Toledo for spotting!
