New Hybrid Cordless Air Compressor Works With Dewalt / Makita / Milwaukee Batteries

A friend of mine was asking me about air compressors since he was in the market for one so I looked on Amazon for some and I came across something interesting. I saw an air compressor that reminded me of the Dewalt Flexvolt compressor. Now it wasn’t an exact copy however there was some familiarity with the plastic framework around its tank but it’s not a Flexvolt clone. I probably would have moved on as there are plenty of wannabe offbrands litering the marketplace of Amazon however this particular model’s title grabbed my attention. Not only was it a hybrid meaning it runs on ac power and battery power (DC) its title mentions it runs on Dewalt, Makita, and Milwaukee batteries. The brand name is TC-BL (never heard of them).

And there it is in the image above. Though it does have some similarities to Dewalt’s Flexvolt model like the plastic framework design, it’s not the same design and has its own shape and design. Even the tank is different as it’s much smaller. It’s rated at 5 liters which is about 1.3 gallons making it roughly half the capacity of Dewalt’s 2.5 gallon model. It does say it features a brushless motor and on the front is a digital display where you can see current PSI and setting PSI and turn the unit on/off. The rear of the tool is where you have the quick connect hose adaptor, the pressure gauge and regulating valve and battery holder. It’s interesting to see that this one battery holder can accept all three brands 18V/20V batteries without the need for adaptors of any kind.

Although it is from an unknown brand, it isn’t cheap as it costs $329 at time of writing as a baretool with no batteries making it quite pricey for what it is as you can get a Dewalt Flexvolt compressor with Flexvolt battery and charger for $299. Sure it doesn’t have the corded option but you do get a larger capacity tank plus everything needed to get up and running for less.

That’s an interesting idea. Do you know of any other off brands that specifically market their product as being able to accommodate multiple other manufacturers batteries? I cant say that I’ve seen that.

If I find any more interesting ones, I may let you know in the form of a new article?

Was thinking the same thing. Surprised more import devices don’t accept Ryobi batteries etc.

It would be interesting if they priced it right, but that’s just way too expensive for what it is, especially considering an unknown, potentially gypsy brand that you can’t get parts for in a decade when you need them… not priced to be disposable.
