New Makita 18V / 14.4V / 12V Cordless Coffee Maker CM501DZ & CM501DZAR

Makita and coffee makers, nothing new right? No because they’ve been selling a cordless one here in the States for several years now however Glenn has spotted new cordless models over in the Makita of Japan website with the models CM501DZ (blue) and CM501DZAR (authentic red color).

These new cordless models build on the existing 18V coffee maker design and expand on it namely that the new models don’t require a separate power source module as the battery holder is built into the left side of the coffee maker. In fact they placed two battery holders with one connection able to use 18V and 14.4V batteries (14.4v batteries not available in the USA) and the other side is able to use 10.8V also known as 12V Max batteries. There is a slide cover that slides left and right to cover the unused battery port and the top has a fold out handle for easy transport around the job.

The new models also look more modern and sleek compared to the basic looking design of the original model. They do provide some runtime figures with the 12V 4.0 ah battery being able to provide enough runtime for up to 2.1 cups of coffee brewing and an 18V 6.0 ah battery able to brew up to 5.3 cups of coffee.

While these are Japanese models only at the time of writing, you can get your hands on them today but at a high cost as I found them on Amazon via the link below for the crazy price of $185-191 depending on the color. You can thank the high price to scalpers that sell these models overseas.

I’m not sure if the USA will officially get these and at normal prices but lets hope they do.

Are you thinking of getting one?
Looks like they are priced decently compared to the rip off Amazon scalper prices. I wonder if we will get these in the USA?

Sorry, I didn’t see your reply til today.

Javier, yes I did manage to get one. Received it last Monday. They sold out very quickly here and wont be available again til March 2019! A Makita rep commented that they didn’t expect it to sell out so quickly and even they had no display or demo stock left.

I have used it a few times now and it works really well. Makes a good cup (my preference is a weak black but it does a good strong one as well). Very easy to use and clean as well.

I only have the CXT 12v max batteries in Makita and as an example, I can get a 160mm cup and still show 2 bars on a 4.0ah and a 260mm cup with 1 bar remaining. You will get much higher quantities from an 18v battery though.

I measured the battery temp when finished making a cup and it comes off about 1-2 degrees C warmer than iit coms straight off the charger so it obviously doesn’t stress the battery.

Its not something that I will use every day but for camping and those colder days at work its ideal. And more so as I cant stand instant coffee. Overall, pretty impressed with it.

          sounds pretty good
hopefully we’ll get them in the USA at some point. My wife loves coffee and this would be an excuse to pick up another Makita product
