New Makita CXT 12V / 10.8V Brushless Impact Driver TD111D with 1200 in-lbs Torque

A new Makita impact has been spotted in Japan and it’s a new brushless 12V / 10.8V CXT impact driver TD111D. This is a step up model to their existing 12V CXT brushed model as it sports a fresh new brushless motor and it offers added torque with a max 135Nm which when translated to in-lbs is roughly 1200 (1194.85 in-lbs actually).

With the added torque, it puts it right there with the likes of the Milwaukee M12 Fuel impact driver and a true contender as it offers similar torque numbers on paper paired with a brushless motor.

Although the Makita CXT 12V 10.8V TD111D torque numbers on paper matches the Milwaukee M12 Fuel impact, the Makita does have class leading compactness with an extremely short length of only 135mm (5.3 inches) besting both the M12 Fuel impact and the recently announced Bosch PS42 12V brushless impact driver in terms of length with smaller lengths being favored. Weight is low also at 0.97 kg which is roughly 2.1 lbs.

All other info is scarce at the moment such as RPM and IPM stats, but from what I can see in the picture, there appears to be what looks to be a speed selector switch on the base of the tool below the handle. I’m almost certain that’s what it is but I can’t tell how many speeds it has. I would make a strong guess that it’s most likely a two speed brushless impact driver and my guess is based on the current brushless 12V impacts on the market from Milwaukee and Bosch which are both 2 speeds. So if the Makita 12V CXT brushless impact is a 2 speed, it will be on par with what’s available in the market for a 12V brushless impact. I think they would be breaking new ground if they decided to make it a 3 speed but I think the chances of it being a 3 speed 12V impact driver are low.

Seeing that this has been announced in Japan, no word is known on when or if this new CXT 12V 10.8V brushless impact driver from Makita will make it here to North America.
