New Milwaukee 46” Steel Storage Chest and Cabinet Preview

Storage UnitMilwaukee continues to expand on storage with their very own steel tool storage 46″ cabinet and matching chest. While tool boxes cater to the general audience namely contractors, these new matching cabinet and chest cater to the mechanic’s crowd.

48-22-8510_4They didn’t just give you a me too basic tool cabinet set, they added a few features to keep things interesting with an integrated metal peg board underneath the pneumatic lid, a slide out work table for use with laptops or vehicle scanners and diagnostic tools, and integrated built in power strips for easy to access power on the spot. There is one power strip on the exterior right side of the tool cabinet and one power strip on the interior right side of the top compartment with pneumatic lid on the tool chest.

48-22-8510_5The tool chest and cabinet are built on a reinforced angle iron frame. The tool cabinet rides on 5″ castors and the complete set has a total of 16 sliding drawers with soft close slides. All drawers can support a maximum 100 lbs and there are 2 drawers that have a second set of slides that give them the added strength of 200 lbs. As a whole, the storage cabinet and chest have a combined weight capacity of 1,800 lbs.

On top of the usual locks, there is one independent locking drawer to keep personal valuables stored and locked away while working. The pneumatic lid compartment lets you store tools upright with up to 10.5″ clearance when the lid is closed and can also store tools on the integrated pegboard. The bottom right drawer of the cabinet has been designed with power tool storage in mind with multiple slots to hold up to 5 pistol style power tools such as impact wrenches, impact drivers, and drills at the back of the drawer for easy access and slots at the front of the drawer for storing m18 batteries and separate compartment for the storage of m12 batteries.

These are set arrive in May 2015.

    wow thats an awesome box with some great features, I love the built in power strips and the power tool storage racks! I have a Snap-on box and there is now options to have the same features as an add on box and its nowhere near the $700 price of this entire box! The “Power Cab” I think its called for storing and charging your Snap-on cordless tools is over $3,000…lol I love my Snap-on box but 3 grand for an add on that lets me store and charge my cordless tools is a bit of a stretch even for me! Great write up Javier, I look forward to a review if you ever get your hands on one!

    Nice write up Javier! Man the milwaukee tool box looks awesome with some very nice features! Now I’m stuck between getting this one or going with my loyalty to Dewalt :} lol such hard decisions!!
