New Ridgid Tools for Fall 2017

Ridgid is always working hard at releasing new products. Here’s a quick list of new products headed to Home Depot this fall. We can expect a new RIDGID R9603 cordless 18V brushless drill and impact driver kit, RIDGID R4210 10” Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw, RIDGID R4517 10” Compact Jobsite Table Saw, Ridgid 7 in. Table Top Wet Tile Saw R4021, RIDGID Tile Setting XLT Premium Tile Tool Series, and a range of RIDGID Concrete and Masonry Tools. A quick description along with specs for each item below.

RIDGID GEN5X Brushless 18V Drill/Driver and 3-Speed Impact Driver Combo Kit R9603

The RIDGID GEN5X Brushless 18V Drill/Driver and 3-Speed Impact Driver Combo is a must-have kit offered at an incredible price. They are powered by Hyper Lithium Technology, an innovative battery technology built for high performance. This kit is backed by the Industry’s Only Lifetime Service Agreement.

  • Brushless Motor Technology delivers more runtime and longer motor life
  • Impact Driver – An Industry Leading 2,250 in.-lbs. of torque
  • Impact Driver – 3 Speed Settings for matching the power to any task
  • Drill/Driver – All Metal Gears for extended jobsite durability
  • Drill/Driver – 2 Speed Settings for matching power to the task
  • WARRANTY: 3 Year Limited Warranty Lifetime Service Agreement with Registration
  • LAUNCH DATE: November 2017

My thoughts: I assumed these were simply a new combo bundle using current 18V brushless tools but looking at each, I can see that both are new models. Both appear to be budget models used to meet the $179 price point and cut back on features. Both models lack the grip light handle button which was a big deal on Gen5x power tools. The impact driver lacks the tri beam triple LED light array in favor for a single light below the handle. The compact drill is a completely new model and doesn’t offer a side handle. The price is still very appealing for a brushless combo kit.

RIDGID 10” Dual Bevel Sliding Miter Saw R4210

RIDGID Continues to bring innovation to the jobsite with the industries widest miter range on a 10” miter saw. This unit has a powerful 15 amp motor which delivers more than enough power for the toughest miter cuts on the jobsite. The RIDGID 10” dual bevel sliding miter saw has the 90° cross cut capacity of 12 inches. The adjustable, high fences on either side of the base of the saw provide extra support for cutting thicker material and make cutting crown molding much easier than other 10” sliding miter saws. The blade break helps stop the blade quicker so transitioning between cuts takes less time.

  • Motor: 120V AC, 15 Amps
  • No Load Speed: 4,500 RPM
  • Blade Arbor Hole: 5/8 in.
  • Blade Diameter: 10 in

  • Heavy- duty 15 Amp motor powers through the most difficult materials.

  • Crown Stop Mounting Holes compatible with common stops and RIDGID crown molding stops (not included).
  • Blade Break stops the blade for quicker transitioning between cuts.
  • Bevel Positive Stops- Positive stops at the most common angles of 0 °, 15 °,22.5 °,33.9 °, and 45 ° left and right.

  • Suggested Retail: $349

My thoughts: I looked at the Home Depot website and I didn’t see a sliding 10 inch miter saw from Ridgid so this appears to fill that gap. It has very good horizontal and vertical cutting capacities and for most users might be all they need. Those that need larger capacities will look at Ridgid’s larger 12 inch sliding miter saw which is priced considerably more than this model.

RIDGID R4517 10” Compact Jobsite Table Saw

RIDGID Continues to bring innovation to the jobsite with the Soft Start function which starts the saw in a less abrasive, loud way. This unit has a powerful 15 amp motor which delivers more than enough power for the toughest rip cuts on the jobsite yet is still compact and light enough for one person to be able to pack up and store. The RIDGID 10 in. Compact Table Saw with stand also has a Micro- Bevel adjustment that allows for a much more precise selection of bevel angles compared to other table saws.

  • Compact Folding Stand elevates saw to comfortable work height and folds easily for transport and storage.
  • Micro- Bevel Adjustment allows for a more precise adjustment of bevel angles
  • Soft start- For quiet and smooth startup
  • Powerful 15 Amp Motor allows the user to cut through even the toughest materials
  • 26in. Rip Capacity provides capacity to cut wider materials.
  • Cast Aluminum Table for increased durability and ease of transportation
  • Motor: 120 V AC,15 Amps
  • No Load Speed: 5,000 RPM
  • Blade Arbor Hole: 10 in.
  • Blade Diameter: 5/8 in
  • Rip Capacities: 26 in. right of blade 7 in. left of blade
  • CUTTING CAPACITIES Depth of Cut at 90°: 3-1/4 in.
  • Depth of Cut at 45°: 2-1/4 in.

My thoughts: Appears identical to the current Ridgid Compact Table saw but at a higher price point of $299. You do pay more but you get more. You get a stand for the table saw and a larger rip cut capacity of 26 inches! Not bad for $50 more.

Ridgid does have a 18 VOLT BRUSHLESS RECIPROCATING SAW (R8643) coming out soon. Here is a link to the OPERATOR’S MANUAL…

Ryan Jacob

Sure wish that Ridgid would release their 10 inch version of the cordless miter saw that they have in Australia under the AEG name.

The ridgid R4517 is NOT. Soft start……I know, they say it is but it’s not. The soft start is on the R45171. So far I can’t find it at any HD store…go figure
