Ryobi has been no stranger to cordless trim routers and have had them since before all the other brands started to make their own in recent years and theirs go as far back as the good ol’ blue Ryobi power tool days. This new model gets a new cosmetic design that breaks away from the aggressive styling of its predecessor model. Though it doesn’t yet sport a brushless motor like many of the other cordless brands do, it does get an upgrade over the previous model in that it has variable speeds. It has a variable speed dial for routing speeds of 20,000-30,000 RPM. It comes with a fixed base meaning it doesn’t plunge but has a micro adjustment dial to raise and lower the router bit for depth adjustment. Like all trim routers, it uses a small clear base plate that is round in front and square in the back.

What’s strange about this model is that it was spotted in a three piece combo set and comes bundled with a Ryobi 18V jigsaw and sander, all three baretools meaning no battery or charger are included. Hopefully Ryobi will sell this new router by itself for those that don’t need or want the additional sander and jigsaw.

A big thanks to DrewBHAM for spotting!
