Newer Ryobi 18V 3-1/4″ Planer P611 On The Way

Dave Greer also wrote in about a new Ryobi 18V Planer P611 that was also spotted on the Ryobi USA website.

Again only the instruction manual PDF is available so we can only gather a few bits of info. Compared to the current Ryobi 18V hand planer P610, the new P611 model has updated styling and a much wider planing width of 3-1/4 inches. The styling and body appear to be taken directly from their corded model HPL52K. Even the power goes up with now having 11,000 RPM vs the 10,000 from the P610 model, although not as high as the corded model.

Normally when tools get an update, it’s incremental but the new model is a significant upgrade over the current P610 model which only has up to a 2 inch planing width! The new model isn’t brushless but still a great upgrade versus the previous model.

Release date and price are currently unknown but my guess is it should be out soon.

Funny you mention this because I was thinking yesterday, “If ryobi only maybe a one + planer I wouldnt have to drop the $199 for the M18 bare tool”. If only all of my tool wishes happened that quickly. Thanks for always being the first to announce things Javier.

Hey John, you can always get the current p610 Ryobi planer 18v if you want one now. Although the new model shown in this article seems to be a huge update and worth the wait in my opinion.

Just saw this in store today. $159.00 AUD which means you guys in the USA will probably get it for just under $100.00 USD. Naturally having a larger capacity, it’s considerably beefier than the outgoing model and it feels well balanced and ergonomically sound. Be interesting to see how it performs.

Is the P611 DOA? It has never hit the US. HD doesn’t have it on their website.
