OLFA has designed all sorts of safety knives and this one continues in that tradition with a dual cutting head that works like an envelope cutter and has two ends but can cut more tough materials like cardboard, plastic strapping bands, zip ties, carpet, and much more. The cutting blade is recessed has a slit so only the material can slide in while the blade slices through. It uses stainless steel blades that OLFA says can last up to 7 times longer than other brands blades. The blades come as preassembled units and attach by sliding into and clipping into the blade holder. Making blades disposable means waste is reduced as you don’t have to dispose the blade and handle as one piece like you’ll find on the similar SK-15 model. The blade holder body is made of fiberglass for durability and is curved to reduce wrist fatigue and the bottom end has a metal nib that’s good for splitting box tape so you don’t have to use your keys and save the main blades.

OLFA says the SK-16 will be available on September 1, 2022 and will retail for $15.99.
