Ridgid 18V Brushless 22″ Hedge Trimmer – Features

Ridgid 18V brushless hedge trimmer in action

This battery powered hedge trimmer features a brushless motor that powers the 22 inch cutting blades. It can cut branches with a 1 inch cut capacity. Ridgid says it has antijam technology so you can keep working. The gearbox is magnesium which is a strong yet lightweight metal to keep the weight down. Total weight not mentioned.

The handle can rotate 180 degrees independently from the body so you can find a more comfortable angle to grip. Ridgid states you can get max performance with their Max Output batteries.

Will come as a baretool or a kit with 2ah battery and charger.

Ridgid 18V Brushless 22″ Hedge Trimmer – New To The USA?

While it’s true that Ridgid 18V outdoor hedge trimmer is new to the USA. It’s actually not a completely new model. Back in 2018 we learned that AEG had come out with an 18V hedge trimmer. AEG is what Ridgid is called outside the USA. And interestingly enough, the new Ridgid branded model looks very much like the AEG. With similar features and all.

You can see both models above side by side. The Ridgid on the left with the AEG on the right. And as you can see, the look very similar. The only difference I can spot is the lack of orange on the tip of the blade on the Ridgid. And the blade is darker metal on the Ridgid. Or it could be the angle and lack of light reflecting on it?

Does it really matter that it’s based on a years old model? Not really. I just thought it might be interesting to note for academic purposes. Either way, it’s good to see that Ridgid owners can now get their hands on one.
