Of all the TTI brands, there’s one that so far hasn’t had a cordless band saw and that brand is Ridgid. I remember back in 2017 on their Facebook page, I read many of the comments and users were asking if Ridgid would come out with a cordless bandsaw of their own and fast forward to today and we can see that they listened to their fans as they’ve now announced their very first cordless 18V band saw and it’s the Ridgid 18V Compact Band Saw model R8604B .

Their first cordless band saw is a compact one and this actually makes sense since they just released a bunch of tiny 18 volt power tools as part of their brushless sub compact series. This band saw is neither brushless or part of that sub compact series but it’s still a great addition to their line to fill a gap. In some ways it’s similar to the recently released Ryobi 18V band saw model as the Ridgid has the same 2-1/2″ cut capacity and uses a similarly sized 32-7/8 inch blade and also features an LED light and rafter hook. Ridgid’s model however has a higher blade rotation speed and it’s also variable speed at 320-680 SFPM for ultimate control based on material and application using a variable speed dial. They also say that blade changes are tool-less which is always a bonus.
From the Ridgid press release themselves they didn’t mention a specific launch date but did say Fall 2020 and will be priced at $179 as a baretool.
