If this new model looks familiar to you, that’s because it’s similar to the original 6 inch cordless buffer, the P430G model. The overall shape of both are similar with the newer model having a more modern updated look, the main difference between the two is that this new model is a two speed model. It’s hard to compare the two models directly other than that as the original model is spec’ed with 4,000 RPM while this new model is spec’ed with 4,600 OPM. RPM and OPM are two different things one being revolutions per minute, the other being orbits per minute. Both models rotate and both models orbit for swirl free buffing so there’s not enough info for both models to compare specs directly other than the difference in speeds. Ryobi also has a larger 18V 10″ buffer which is good for covering large areas quickly, while this smaller 6 inch model is good for detail work getting into tighter spaces that the larger unit can’t.

This model like its predecessor has a large D-Handle for two handed grip and control. Ryobi says it can get up to 2 hours of runtime on a single charge when used with a 2ah battery making for good runtime even though it’s not a brushless motor buffer. Most likely this rating is when on the lowest of the two settings. While most new Ryobi tools are going up in price thanks to inflation, it’s good to know that this model is only about $5 more than the original and has the extra two speed feature. It comes with two bonnets, an applicator and buffing bonnet.
