Ryobi 18V Bolt Cutter P592

Tired of all the new Ryobi tool articles this and last week? Well too bad because here’s another one for ya! I think it’s of lots of interest because Ryobi now has a new cordless 18V bolt cutter model P592 !

I’ve used bolt cutters before and depending on the hardness and thickness of the item being cut, it can be a strenuous job but now that it’s a power tool, it takes all or at least most of the effort away. Ryobi’s 18V bolt cutter uses existing technology for their bolt cutter as this technology has been implemented in other similar tools such as rebar cutters, rod cutters, cable cutters, threaded rod cutters, press tools and so forth but all use their own proprietary heads for that specific task. Ryobi’s cordless bolt cutter model uses a head very similar to that of traditional manual powered bolt cutters.

Going over it’s spec list, it’s cutting head has a max capacity of 3/8″ although that is limited to soft metals, it’s hard metal capacity is up to 1/4″. It uses a dual button trigger with one button for cutting and closes the jaws while the other button opens the jaws when your done. According to Ryobi it’s runtime is rated for up to 200 cuts per charge which sounds pretty good to me. I’m guessing this is with their 4.0 ah battery.

Big thanks to Aaron who spotted this model over on the Ryobi USA website. I did a quick search on the HD website and at the time of writing Home Depot does not have them yet. This means they are coming sometime in the near future but I don’t know exactly when. Can’t tell you the price either as I won’t know that until it appears on HD.

  • Battery: 18V
  • Cut Capacity: 3/8 in. medium to soft materials, ¼ in. hard materials
  • Tool Weight: 5.2 lbs.
