I have received word from Wilton that they have added 4-1/2 and 6-1/2” jaw widths to their multi-purpose vise line. They also are said to feature 60,000 psi ductile iron bases for added strength. By comparison, most multi-purpose vise bases are constructed using 30,000 gray cast iron, which bears half the stress, making them more susceptible to cracking or breaking under load.
It was 80 years ago when Wilton manufactured the iconic Tradesman ® Bullet Vise, which became a mainstay in most American factories. Noted for its robust, quality construction, durability and longevity, this legacy vise has withstood generations of use.
The redesigned Wilton Multi-Purpose Bench Vises feature the same industrial design styling of the Bullet Vise. These benchtop vises are ideally suited for light tradesman, utility work, maintenance/repair operations, and general purpose use.
Solidly built, these vises are structurally sound with features such as factory-lubricated. enclosed spindles with lifetime lubrication for trouble free service; precision machined jaws that consistently provide smooth operation; 360 º swivel bases, and a swiveling head indexed in 30º increments for clamping materials at virtually any angle. The Wilton vise provides users with the option of using the pipe or V-jaws. Replaceable horizontal pipe jaws accommodate pipe from ¼” to 3” in diameter. The V-jaw option holds pipe and other round stock vertically. Each vise also is equipped with replaceable hardened steel jaws with a serrated pattern for a sure grip and long life. Jaw widths of the new vises are ½” greater than competitive models.
