Worx 40V 2X20V Brushless 14″ Chainsaw WG384

Worx has announced a new 40V chainsaw WG384 featuring a brushless motor that powers a 14 inch bar and chain and is part of their 20V Powershare cordless tool line.

How is a tool that’s part of their 20V line also be a 40 volt tool you ask? Simple, use two 20V batteries together to double the power and that’s exactly what Worx is doing here as this chainsaw uses two 20V batteries together. This is nothing new as Makita pioneered this technology with their X2 line of 36V power tools that use two 18V batteries. 18V and 20V are the same thing just marketed differently and likewise so are 36V and 40V.

The Worx 40V chainsaw has a tool less automatic chain tensioning mechanism making it a lot easier to use than having to adjust tension with additional tools. The saw also features what they call “Rapid Stop” which is their way of saying it has an electric brake that stops the chain quickly after you let go of the trigger. It also has auto chain lubrication and an on board fuel gauge to check the remaining battery charge.

The Worx 40V brushless chainsaw will be sold as a kit for $199.99 and it includes two 2.0 ah 20V batteries, a dual charger that charges both batteries in an hour and chain protector cover.

  • High-efficient brushless motor design for long-lasting power and performance
  • Quick-stop chain brake, to help prevent accidental cutting
  • Automatic, tool-free chain tensioning system for extended bar & chain life
  • Automatic chain lubrication for continuous easy use
  • 40 volts of total power delivered by two 20V Power Share batteries
  • On-board battery indicator so you know exactly how much charge is left.
