New Ryobi 18V One+ Leaf Blower & 22″ Hedge Trimmer

Ryobi 18V jet fan blower & hedge trimmerLast year 2015 Ryobi broke the entry level mold with added performance and features on several of their corldess power tools, and this tradition continues into 2016 with a couple of new outdoor power equipment powered by their popular One+ 18V batteries. These new models include a new leaf blower P2180 and a 22″ hedge trimmer P2660 both claiming additional power.

In fact the new 18V blower P2180 is claimed to have twice the power and twice the runtime compared to the previous model with 280 CFM’s at 100 MPH with a new jet blower design. The new design brings it inline with high performance models from other brands as they walk away from the older blower design. One thing that caught my attention is that this new Ryobi 18V model has the same MPH and CFM stats as the sister company Ridgid’s 18V jobsite blower. The two blowers don’t exactly look the same, and I’m not talking about color alone as there are several redesigns making the new Ryobi model look distinguished and more like a traditional leaf blower and longer than the Ridgid model. Although the Ridgid 18V jobsite blower isn’t categorized as a leaf blower, it offers excellent peformance for an 18V model for use in lawn care so I have a feeling the new Ryobi will kick butt as well.

  • Easy use, easy maintenance, easy storage
  • Hanging hook for user convenience
  • Debris scraper for loosening stubborn dirt and leaves
  • 3-year limited warranty
  • Pricing $129 with 4.0ah battery & charger

The new 18V hedge trimmer P2660 features a new design with upgraded cutting capacity over the previous model now at 22″ cutting length with a 3/4″ cutting capacity. According to Ryobi this new model is said to have performance similar to higher voltage lines, I’m assuming they’re talking about anywhere from 24V through 40V models. This is exciting news as we are now living in the days where 18V cordless outdoor power equipment can be considered an effective alternative to gas powered equipment. It features a wrap-around front handle and rotating rear handle and also features a HedgeSweep that clears clippings and debris while you trim.

The hedge trimmer looks like the model they sell across the pond, and from the product page it also appears they’re finally bringing over the 18+ mower!
I’m looking forward to the jet fan blower. I have the old non-hybrid model, and while it serves its purpose as a light sweeper, there’s definitely times I’ve wished for more air volume. Hopefully they’ll roll out a bare-tool version.
Keep up the good work, Javier!
