Makita announced 3 new tools for May 2024 including a new CONNECTX 40V 1200wh portable power supply (battery only), new optimized for cordless diamond blades, and 1″ SDS Plus AVT rotary hammer with HEPA dust extractor HR2653. Let’s check them out below.

Makita CONNECTX 40V 1200wh Portable Power Supply PDC1200
Back in late 2021 we learned that Makita had created the new ConnectX system of battery powered outdoor power equipment. This system uses a massive battery pack to help give you all day runtime. It can power things such as mowers, string trimmers, and blowers and the battery pack itself can be worn as a backpack when paired with the harness. Above we see it powering a mower.
Above we see it powering a backpack blower, and they also have a handheld blower that can also be powered by this ConnectX battery. The ConnectX system uses a proprietary connection between the tool and battery.
There’s even a portable power station that you can attach this battery to for portable power up 1,400W continuous power as shown above.
The ConnectX 40V PDC1200 portable power supply is just the battery by itself. And even though it’s called a portable power supply, it only provides power to other ConnectX Makita power tools. It doesn’t act as a portable power supply in the traditional sense as it doesn’t have any USB or AC ports. You’ll need to connect this portable power supply battery, to the portable power station if you want to use the portable power supply battery as a traditional portable power supply. Confused? Hopefully not!

New Makita Diamond Blades Optimized for Battery Power Tools
These new Makita Diamond blades are Ultra-Thin Kerf Blades and are available in 4-1/2”, 5”, 7” 9”, 12” and 14”. Blades are optimized for use with battery power tools offering reduced motor drag and up to 80% more cuts per charge. Cutting edges feature Turbo U-Notches that efficiently eject dust delivering two-times faster cutting and vent holes.
Makita 1″ SDS Plus AVT Rotary Hammer with HEPA Dust Extractor HR2653
This new Makita 1″ SDS Plus AVT rotary hammer features a powerful 8 AMP motor that delivers 2.1 ft.lbs. of impact energy to handle the most demanding applications. It features a classic pistol grip design and has enough oomph to handle up to 1 inch concreted hammer drilling. Although optimal hammer drilling range is 1/4″ – 5/8″. It features AVT which is their anti-vibration tech that uses a counterbalance system to significantly reduce felt vibrations. They claim this doesn’t compromise performance. Have your cake and eat it too!
It also comes bundled with HEPA dust extractor that piggy backs along for the ride to help minimize airborn dust for OSHA compliance. The included HEPA Dust Extractor is OSHA Table 1 compliant for Exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica (rule 1926.1153). The on-board dust extractor includes a filter cleaning mechanism designed to help maintain optimum suction efficiency. The dust extractor is activated by the tool for operator convenience and is equipped with an efficient HEPA filtration system that captures 99.97% of particulates .3 microns and larger. It has a transparent dust container with an accurate level indicator of collected material for added convenience.
