Just announced today were 12 new Ridgid 18V products. In this article we will take a look at 4 of those new Ridgid 18V subcompact brushless power tools. They include a jigsaw, right angle impact driver, and two right angle impact wrenches. Let’s check them out below. All they are saying is that they will be available in 2023.

Ridgid 18V SubCompact Brushless Barrel Grip Jigsaw R86346
This new brushless jigsaw is part of Ridgids 18V subcompact brushless power tools. While Ridgid has made several 18V jigsaws in the past, this is their first barrel grip model. Some people swear by this style of jigsaw. The benefit of the barrel grip design is that your grip is closer to the work surface which may give a greater sense of control over the cut. Ridgid calls it “superior ergonomics”.
They say it’s 15% lighter and 20% more compact although they don’t mention compared to what. Also mention that the blade speed is faster than corded. They didn’t mention that the cut speed is faster though.
Other features include a tool-less blade change lever, 3 orbit settings plus off. A non-marring shoe cover is included. I can’t tell if the base can bevel without the need of a tool to lock in place or if it needs a hex key. I don’t see a lever on the back which would signify tool-free bevel.

Ridgid 18V SubCompact Brushless Right Angle Impact Driver R87730B
There have been many right angle cordless drills but it is nice to see right angle impact drivers too. Ridgid’s entry features a brushless motor and puts out strong torque for a right angle impact driver – 950 in-lbs of torque! Ridgid is saying this is the industry’s most compact right angle impact driver and with best in class power. It features a two finger trigger and a belt clip.

EDIT 6/19/23 New Info
We have a little bit more info now that Ridgid officially announced this new right angle impact driver. For starters the model number is now R87730B and it has a MSRP of $159 as a baretool. They haven’t mentioned a launch frame and that’s because it’s available now. It can be found in the “Buy link” below.
We learn that the head is adjustable with 8 positive stops and that it has an LED light to help in low light. It is said to get maximum power when paired with their MAX Output batteries.
Right angle impact drivers offer a very short head that allows to fit into very tight spots. This gives it the same benefit of a right angle drill while the fact that it’s also an impact driver makes it better suited for driving fasteners. Of course it can also be used for drilling however not as effective as a drill.

Ridgid 18V SubCompact Brushless 3/8″ & 1/2″ Right Angle Impact Wrenches
Next on the list are two 18V subcompact brushless right angle impact wrenches. They are basically the same unit but with either a 3/8″ or 1/2″ anvil head. So choose the one that fits your size socket set.
Both feature strong 250 ft-lbs torque. Ridgid says these are the best in class power although they might not be familiar with the Klein Tools right angle impact wrench which offerse 300 ft-lbs of torque. The Ridgid does offer a more compact head so they do have the upper hand there. The Ridgid features 3 speeds plus auto tightening mode.

New Info 7/7/23
We have received new official info on these directly from Ridgid in the form of a press release. We now learn that they will be available now and both models are priced at $199 each as a baretool.
We have some new images as well and the above highlights how practical and effective their compact heads are. Of which allows these right angle impacts to reach into tight confined spaces where a larger tool couldn’t. This is especially useful in the automotive field working in and underneath a vehicle in tight crammed spaces.
We also learn that these impacts feature an LED light to help in low light situations. We previously knew it had 3 speeds plus an auto-tightening mode. However new info has surfaced regarding the auto-tightening mode. Ridgid says that this mode auto-stops when fastening to prevent over tightening fasteners. And in reverse, this mode delivers full breakaway torque and then stops when the bolt is loose.
There’s also a new boot specifically designed for these new right angle subcompact impact wrenches to protect the exterior of the head of the tool from regular wear and tear.
Ridgid says to pair them with their MAX Output batteries for maximum power. Both model numbers now have a “B” at the end to designate that these are baretools.
