Ryobi has a new cordless 18V vacuum model P7131 . If the model number seems familiar, that’s because it is an update to the similarly named P713 model.
The new P7131 model is a cordless dust buster style vac and is extremely similar to it’s predecessor the P713 such as the dust buster style, clear front debris canister, dual filter design, and included attachable crevice tool. If anything the biggest difference between the two is the cosmetic design. While having a very similar form factor, the new model gets a completely new stylish exterior which makes it look like a modern vacuum and makes the older model look quite old and somewhat outdated. The clear debris canister is now clearer and less tinted than before and the battery placement now goes behind the handle instead of underneath it. It will be priced the same as the P713 at $24.97 which makes me believe it will be replacing it.
Suction power in CFM’s is not provided in the Ryobi website for the new model so I cannot share that info with you. I would expect decent performance on this vacuum. Don’t expect it to blow you away but good enough for light duty dry pickup.
A couple of it’s features included the dual filter mentioned above which looks very promising as it has what appears to be a plastic mesh filter housing a user replaceable pleated square cartridge filter. This double filter combo means you can expect to service the cartridge filter less often while the plastic mesh filter takes the bulk of dust and is easier to clean by wiping it. The other interesting feature is the attachable crevice tool. It’s a separate piece that stores onto the tool when not in use and attaches to the tip when needed. As great as these features are, they are not new as mentioned in the above paragraphs since they are carry over features but I felt they needed to be explained since they do appear interesting.
