The Olight Swivel work light is a neat little light that offers several features. For instance its front panel uses a COB emitter that offers up to 400 lumens of brightness for area lighting in one direction and has 3 brightness settings of high, medium, and low. On the top edge of the light, you’ll find an LED that offers a focused beam that produces up to 200 lumens and is good for use as a flashlight with a more focused beam and can project farther.
If the light seems familiar, that’s because it shares many of the same features and design cues of the Klein Tools 56403 LED light I reviewed a while back. Both models offer a panel that produces wide area lighting, a similar style with a magnetic base in which the light head can pivot on, the base doubles as a carabiner and has magnets to attach onto metal surfaces for handsfree operation, and both offer a glow in the dark strip around the area light which makes them easier to spot in the dark when the unit is off. Both units also have built in rechargeable batteries and a built in fuel gauge. The main differences are that the Klein is a bit brighter at 460 rated lumens and also has a slightly higher price tag of $39.97 at time of writing. The Klein can also rotate the light head on top of it’s pivoting action. Where the Olight Swivel wins is that it has the additional top edge LED light when a spotlight flashlight is better suited so it has double duty and additional functionality when it comes to lighting options. Both an area light and spot light built in. The Olight Swivel also comes in at a little less at $34.97 which is its regular price but can be found for less when on sale, as much as $10 less. The Olight Swivel also comes in an green and black color scheme which gives it that “army” and tactical look which some may prefer.
As far as runtime goes, the Olight Swivel’s main COB area light panel is said to be rated for up to 5 hours on high and up to 90 hours when on the low brightness setting. The flashlight LED can run for a rated up to 5 hours on high and up to 27 hours on medium. It has an IPX4 rating which means it is water resistant to splashes but not submersion. A USB charge cable is included and I like that it uses the USB-C connection.
