Milwaukee’s M18 Fuel line has commonly been the way to go if you wanted brushless and the best of the best they had to offer. This included their best high performance and along with it went a larger size. Back in 2015 they released their first brushless tools that didn’t feature the Fuel branding. These were drill and impact driver models that featured a brushless motor in a “compact” size that still featured good performance. Those models were then refreshed in 2018 with the Gen 2 variants which shrank them down a bit for a more compact form except for the hammer drill model.

Gen 3 Milwaukee M18 Compact Brushless Impact Driver – Features

As we can see above, the new Gen 3 M18 compact brushless impact driver gets a completely new redesign. It has more youthful styling and is very compact. Scratch that, it’s tiny.

The top section looks like it could be a 12 volt tool, that’s how small it is. This is no surprise since it measures 4.4 inches in length!

The small length means it can fit into very tight spots.

Performance goes up from the previous Gen 2 model by 100 in-lbs of torque now totaling 1,700 for strong performance. Sure it’s not the same kind of level of performance as the current Gen 4 Fuel impact driver but it has come a way since the original M18 compact brushless model.

Featurewise, this compact brushless model is less featured than a Fuel Model. Namely, it lacks the triple LED light system at the head of the tool of the Fuel model. Instead it has a single LED below the hex chuck. It also doesn’t have the black rubber overmold sleeve on the head of the tool like on the Fuel models.

This model is also a single speed (variable trigger) model.

However there is a 3 speed variant of this new M18 compact brushless model if you prefer multiple speeds plus variable speed trigger. Though the 4 mode selector is only found on the upscale M18 Fuel model.

The new M18 compact brushless impact driver models will be available in August 2023. Pricing is shown below and varies depending on baretool or kit form.
