Ridgid 18V 8.0 Ah MAX OUTPUT EXP Lithium Ion Battery with Tabless Cell Tech AC840081
If this battery seems similar to you, you are correct as we learned about the similarly named battery back in 2022. Back then Ridgid claimed their 18V 8.0 ah Max Output EXP battery was their latest and greatest with it being their most powerful battery they’ve ever built. This was thanks to them using larger 21700 cells along with beefed up heatsinks and electronics. I would almost write this new battery as the same old however it features the latest tabless battery tech.
Ridgid claims that tabless cells “create a more direct flow of energy to maximize power, runtime, and cell life while also enabling faster charging.” They also use a ThermaGuard tech that uses laser welded cell straps and upgraded heatsinks to help keep things cooler and maintain constant output even under heavy use.
They feature advanced intelligent electronics that communicate with the tool to optimize performance output during heavy usage. You can also use these new batteries with the 18V Turbo charger to get to 80% in just 40 minutes. This battery also features their 4-bar fuel gauge as did the original.
Available November 2026 for $229 each however my local Home Depot shows as them being in stock and ready to purchase even at the time of writing.
