Bauer 20V 8 ah High Capacity Battery – Features
Prior to this battery, Bauer’s 20V battery lineup consisted of 1.5ah, 3.0ah, and a 5.0ah batteries. This makes it Bauer’s largest capacity 20V battery to date. It has 8 ah or “amp hours” which is a measurement of capacity, not power output.
Besides having the largest capacity in Bauer’s range, this new 8ah battery is also physically larger than even their 5.0ah battery. This is because this battery is sporting larger and newer 21700 cells. 21700 cells are newer and more advanced than the older and smaller more commonly used 16850 cells. Harbor Freight touts that these new cells offer more power and runtime.
On the front is the usual 3 bar fuel gauge to check the remaining battery charge.
This battery will work with most Bauer 20V tools. This is interesting because batteries usually work with all existing tools in their lineup. There are some tools that this battery will simply not work with and this is most likely due to its larger physical size. The engineers may not have had in mind the larger size of this battery when designing certain tools. However it should fit tools with an open design such as drills and impacts. For tools where this battery is enclosed, you might have to check the fit to see if it fits or not.
A large high capacity battery such as this isn’t just good for extending runtime but is essential for use with certain high draw power tools. A battery like this makes more aggressive power hungry tools possible so it might be a good sign to expect some serious performance tools soon. But again, those are just my thoughts and opinions. Please do not mistake them as fact but as a probable possibility.
