It wasn’t that long ago that Dewalt came out with a new compact 20V 3.0 ah battery and now they have a brand new 20V 4.0 ah battery the DCB240 that has a larger capacity but in the same compact 5 cell form factor. That’s not all as they also have a new fat pack 20V 8.0 ah battery as well that’s the same size as the newly announced 20V 6.0ah XR pack but with a larger runtime capacity.
Both of these batteries are sporting the same 21700 4.0 ah cells with the compact 4.0 ah battery having 5 of them and the 8.0 ah battery having 10 of them. They will be a little bit bigger than previous batteries such as a 2.0 compact or a 4.0 ah fatpack for example and that’s because the 21700 cells are slightly larger and require slightly bigger housing to accommodate them. Expect both of them to be available soon.
