Dewalt EV Charger Models
Well start off with the common features across all three models. These EV chargers are rugged chargers designed to withstand harsh jobsite conditions. They are also indoor and outdoor rated. All feature protection from overvoltage, leakage, lightning, and overcurrent. They are IP66 rated waterproof and fireproof. All are compatible with all SAE J1772 electric vehicle connections out of the box and are Tesla ready with the optional Tesla adapter. They feature a 25 foot charge cord. All are CSA & UL certified and Energy Star rated.
Dewalt 16 Amp Level 2 Portable EV Charger
The most economical of the bunch is the 16 amp portable EV charger model. It offers 12-16 amp of power and can charge as fast as up to 12 miles per hour / 3.84 kW. Meaning an EV with a 300 mile range will take about 25 hours to fully charge from empty. It is portable because it has a compact charger controller and it can be plugged in with its NEMA 6-20 plug or NEMA 5-15 via adapter. The charger controller module is built tough and their marketing video shows it being able to withstand being driven over by a truck.

Dewalt 40 Amp Level 2 EV Charger
The 40 amp portable EV charger model is the next step up. It offers 12-40 amp of power and can charge as fast as up to 36 miles per hour / 9.6 kW. Meaning an EV with a 300 mile range will take about a little over 8 hours to fully charge from empty. This model also plugs in via its NEMA 14-50 plug. The charge controller can be wall mounted with the supplied bracket and hardware. The cord wraps around the charge controller for easy storage.
This model has a nice roll cage design designed to protect the unit and integrated LCD display from harsh jobsite environments.
It also has built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity which allows you to start, stop, and schedule charging sessions. This is useful so you can schedule charge times to fit within off-peak electric rates. It also allows you to monitor energy consumption and receive real-time updates.

Dewalt 48 Amp Level 2 EV Charger
The 48 amp EV charger has all the same features of the 40 amp model except two key differences. It has a higher 48 amp charging ability, between 12-48 amps / 11.5 kW. Fast charging of up to 46 miles per hour. Meaning an EV with a 300 mile range will take about 6.5 hours to fully charge from empty. The next major difference is that this model is designed to be hardwired.
Other than that, it features the same features as the 40 amp model such as built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as well as the roll cage design.
