Estwing 5 Gallon Quiet Oil-Free Compressor E5GCOMP Is Rated At 68 db

Estwing isn’t all about hammers as they also make air compressors for your pneumatic tools. We recently announced a new Estwing 10 Gallon 5.5 HP Twin Stack Compressor E10GCOMP just last month (click here to check it out) and I’ve got word that they are releasing a new quiet compressor that is much safer on your ears with the Estwing 5 Gallon Quiet Oil-Free Compressor E5GCOMP .

Estwing 5 Gallon Quiet Oil-Free Compressor E5GCOMP is rated at 68 db which is considerably quieter than traditional air compressors. This is the same rated db as the Campbell Hausfeld 8 gallon quiet compressor I reviewed a while back and I can assure you it’s much better on your ears than traditional compressors.

The 1.6 HP (2.5 peak HP) compressor has a maximum PSI rating of 180 with air delivery at 3.8 SCFM. The 14 amp model operates on standard 120V current up to 100 ft.

According to Estwing, the 180 max PSI 5 gal. tank provides 50 percent more useable air than comparable compressors and delivers enough airflow to power two pneumatic tools simultaneously. The oil-free 4-pole motor provides extended maintenance-free operation making it ideal for use in construction, flooring, finishing or framing jobs. The tank fills from 0-180 PSI in less than two minutes and cuts in at 135 PSI to maintain consistent air flow. Air delivery SCFM @ 40 PSI is 5.0. Air delivery SCFM @ 90 PSI is 3.8.

At 77 lbs., the compact compressor’s 5 gallon tank and roll cage feature powder-coated steel construction with a ball drain valve at its base and rubber feet to dampen vibration. The quiet compressor features a 3,000 hour long life oil-free pump.

The compressor’s steel control panel has liquid-filled pressure gauges, pressure regulator dial, overload protection shut-off and two, ¼ in. universal quick-connector couplers. The compressor also features in a built-in power cord wrap and a replaceable air filter. An integrated, ergonomically-designed handle at the top of the compressor provides easy transport.

The Estwing 5 gal. compressor will retail for $399.99 and comes with a five-year limited warranty.

I’m still amazed that it took the industry decades before they realized people don’t like how loud air compressors (usually) are. Nice to see yet another entry into the quiet category, though $400 seems a bit rich for what it is.

Compare to the Campbell Hausfeld quiet compressor, this may be 60% more CFM but it doesn’t take 60% more materials/motor/cylinder cost to do that, and even if it did, it is 200% of the CH price.

This is unfortunate because at 14A it’s about the most you can expect to get (quietly) out of any random 120VAC outlet, keeping it arguably portable (though at 77 lbs).
