Klein Tools has announced a new infrared thermometer with GFCI receptacle tester kit model number IR1KIT which they say will be an affordable kit.

With this announcement, no new tools are being announced, only the model number is new and even then it goes off the infrared thermometers model number of IR1 and adds the word “KIT” to it. This infrared thermometer gun kit comes bundled with the RT210 GFCI outlet tester. The kit bundle price is $39.97 at time of writing which frankly is the same price you’d pay if you bought them separately.
The outlet tester is a small little fella with basic functionality with the common three lights that light up in different combinations to let you know how an outlet is wired, if correct or incorrect and if incorrect will describe the specific reasons as what is wrong by the use of the lights and the onboard paper code guide. It also offers a built in GFCI outlet tester for additional functionality.
The infrared thermometer has a Measurement range from -4 to 752°F (-20 to 400°C) and has an onboard LCD panel to display temperature readings. A laser pointer is provided so you know the pinpoint location of the temp reading. It uses an included 9V battery and comes with a holster to keep the tool by your side as you work. It is also rated to withstand a 6.6 foot drop.
