Milwaukee announced a new outdoor power tool with the M12 brushless pruning shears. It is model 2534-20 as a baretool and 2534-21 as a one battery kit. Let’s check it out below.

Milwaukee M12 Brushless Pruning Shears – Features
Work smarter not hard are some wise words to live by. There are plenty of tools that require manual elbow grease. But when the job is very repetitive, a power tool makes the job easier so you work smarter not harder. Often times power tools not only make the job easier but also faster which improves productivity.
The M12 brushless pruning shears takes a manual powered tool and does all the hard work for you. This is thanks to a brushless motor powered by their popular M12 batteries. The use of an M12 12 volt battery keeps the tool overall compact and lightweight making it easy to use one handed.
It can cut a branch up to 1-1/4″ thick and can do so up to 75% faster than manual power.
This tool has two modes of operation. Full cut capacity and half cut capacity. The half cut capacity gives you a cut capacity of up to 5/8″. Half capacity mode also speeds up the cut speed since it limits the range of motion. Of course not all branches you’ll cut are 1-1/4 inch thick. If you’ll be cutting lot’s of smaller branches, like rose bushes for example, you’re better off using half cut capacity mode.
A button helps you toggle between the two modes. There’s also a power button above that. I’m not a big fan of power buttons on power tools since power tools already have triggers or switches. This tool already uses a trigger so I find the process of “turning on” the tool to be an unnecessary added step before I can use the tool.
At only 3.3 lbs weight, Milwaukee says their model is lighter than other battery powered pruners.
As far as runtime is concerned, Milwaukee says it can get up to 1,000 cuts per charge in 1/2″ branches with a 2.0ah battery.
A scabbard is included with the pruning shears to cover the blades when not in use.
