New Info Regarding Ryobi Link Modular Storage System

Back in August Ryobi announced their new Ryobi Link modular storage system with plenty of wall storage options and also including a new modular 3 tool box design similar to sister company Ridgid’s 22″ Pro tool storage system that started with a rolling tool cart, medium tool box, and small organizer tool box. Back then they said we would hear more about the system in Fall 2021 and right at the start of November we have their official announcement of all the components that make up the entire system! All of the Ryobi LINK storage solutions are said to be available December 2021.

Above we can see the entire line of storage solutions as part of the Ryobi Link system with an emphasis on wall mounted storage. This is great as everything can be kept off the floor for improved floor space around your home and garage. In fact, all of the components are wall mountable even including the storage boxes, with the exception of the rolling tool cart with wheels. As you can see above, two of the storage boxes are wall mounted.

We’ll start off with the modular storage boxes as shown above. As you can see, they are basically Ryobi’s version of sister brands Ridgid 22″ pro tool storage system. Ryobi’s storage tool boxes feature impact resistant material with an IP65 rating for water and dusts resistance, front facing latches made up of metal and plastic, and secure locking points. They also feature side handles or grips and the medium and small boxes have front carry handles. They all have the ability to interlock other Ryobi LINK tool boxes and with the exception of rolling tool car, they can be wall mounted. The bottom tool box is the Ryobi Link rolling tool box STM201 and it has 9″ all terrain wheels with a telescoping handle that makes it easy to roll on to your next project and makes it easy to carry the other tool boxes on top. It has a 200 lbs load capacity and comes with a double organizer bin. It’s priced at $84. The Ryobi LINK medium tool box STM102 has an 80 lbs load rating, includes integrated accessory bit storage and also includes a double storage bin. It’s priced at $54.97. The Ryobi LINK standard tool box STM101 is the smallest tool box shown on top in the above image. It’s not quite the organizer tool box as the Ridgid version but it has some of the functionality with the included single organizer bin and double organizer bin to organize smaller items within the tool box. This tool box has a 50 lbs load capacity and is priced at $44.97.

Ryobi Link 7 PC wall storage starter kit STM503K

The starter kit includes 2 wall rails, 2 utility hooks, 1 power tool hook, 1 large power tool hook, and 1 double organizer bin plus hardware pack to get you wall mounted right away. The wall rails STM504 are 33″ wide and have are the right length to span across 3 studs spaced 16″ apart with included holes to secure to each stud. The wall rails are said to provide 75 lbs of weight capacity per linear foot. The utility hooks STM805 offer a 50 lbs weight capacity each and are designed to hang things like hoses, cords, and anything that can be hung. The power tool hook STM801 also has a 50 lbs weight capacity and is designed to hold smaller power tools and lawn and garden tools. The large power tool hook STM803 also has a 50 lbs weight capacity and like it’s name suggests, is designed to hang larger power tools and lawn and garden tools. The double organizer bin STM812 is designed to hold small items like small parts, accessories, fasteners, etc and is the same one that comes bundled with the tool boxes. Additional Thoughts:

As a whole the entire line of Ryobi LINK storage solutions are a great idea offering tons of functionality and wall mounting to keep your garage and other storage areas from having the ground cluttered. It appears to be an easy to use system and the wall rails makes wall mounting easy as additional hooks and items simply slide in place. However I do have to offer my unbiased opinion here and much of what the Ryobi LINK system does is what peg board and peg board accessories have done for ages. And not only that but peg board and its accessories are far cheaper. In one of the main images of the Ryobi LINK system, you’ll find a section comprised of several wall rails. From what I could see, I counted about 12 sets of wall rails and at $29.97 for each two piece set, that wall section would amount to just shy of $360 dollars. And that doesn’t even include any of the hooks or other accessories. For far less you can get a panel or panels of peg board and the accessories are very inexpensive as well. I do like the three tool boxes and crate which offer a nice option for those who are big Ryobi fans so that they don’t have to look at other options from Ridgid, Dewalt, and Milwaukee so they can stay green. The whole Ryobi LINK wall mounting system is also a neat idea for those that are also big fans of Ryobi and we know many of you are.
