New – Milwaukee M18 Fuel 1/2 Inch Mid Torque Impact Wrench

Milwaukee is soon coming out with a new set of cordless 1/2 inch impact wrenches that fit right between the compact impact wrenches and the high torque models with their all new Milwaukee M18 Fuel 1/2 Inch Mid Torque Impact Wrenches.

Why the need for the mid torque impact wrenches?

According to Milwaukee, not everyone needs the high torque performance or want’s to deal with the size and weight of the high torque M18 Fuel impact wrenches but some users need more performance than the compact M18 impact wrenches. The new Milwaukee M18 Fuel 1/2 Inch Mid Torque Impact Wrenches offer considerable more torque than the compact impact wrenches while at the same time are considerably lighter and more compact than the larger high torque models.

Milwaukee will offer two mid torque models – a 1/2″ pin detent model and a 1/2″ friction ring model. Other than the difference in anvil, they both have identical stats with 450 ft-lbs of fastening torque and 600 in-lbs of nut busting torque in a “compact-ish” body that is much more comparable in size and weight to the compact impact wrenches than the beefy high torque models.

What’s also interesting is that the new Milwaukee M18 Fuel 1/2 Inch Mid Torque Impact Wrenches produce more torque than some competitors high torque wrenches that top out at around 300-350 ft-lbs torque. Obviously not all competitors as Makita and Dewalt have recently come out with new high torque wrenches of their own that rival Milwaukee’s high torque offerings.

They will be out soon in February 2017. Pricing for the new Milwaukee M18 Fuel 1/2 Inch Mid Torque Impact Wrenches will be $399 for the kit (which includes the impact wrench, two 5.0 batteries, charger, and case) and $189 for the bare tool. There will also be available a impact wrench cover boot cover made specifically for the mid torque models.
