Ryobi 18V Cut Out Tool – Features
This is Ryobi’s latest drywall cut out tool. This isn’t their first drywall cut out tool and this new model is still rocking a brushed motor. This shows us that brushed tools are still kicking even today.
It uses a spiral bit at up to 28,000 RPM to make easy work of cutting out electrical boxes in drywall. It accepts 1/8Â and 1/4 inch bits.
An LED light at the front helps illuminate when working in low light.
Ryobi states that it can get over 190 cuts per charge. They don’t specify with which battery however it is paired with a 1.5ah battery in kit form. So the runtime figure is most likely with that battery.
Other features include a spindle lock and scrench to swap out bits. There’s even built in storage for the included scrench. It also features tool-free depth adjustment with a flip out lever to lock and unlock.

It shows as available on the Home Depot website and is priced at $59 as a baretool. A kit option is available for $89 and includes 1.5ah battery and charger.
