Ryobi announces two new cordless 18V HP Brushless woodworking tools with the 5″ random orbit sander and the compact router. Let’s check them out below.

Ryobi 18V HP Brushless 5″ Random Orbit Sander – Features
First on the list is a new cordless 18V random orbit sander. This is part of their HP Brushless line of powerful cordless products featuring a strong brushless motor.
Its strong brushless motor offers rapid material removal for quick sanding, and the random orbital motion to reduce evidence of sanding swirl marks. The strong motor also makes sanding hardwoods a breeze.
It has three selectable speeds which can be selected on the front top button. They allow speed control of 7,000 – 11,000 OPM. In the front is where you’ll also find a handy LED light to help in low light. Ryobi says this is the industry’s first random orbit sander with an LED light which seems like a no brainer, so it’s good to see Ryobi lead the pack.
An included dust bag is supplied for dust management and the bag can be removed for use with a vacuum hose for even better dust management. Ryobi also claims 30% less vibration, although they don’t mention what that is compared to. No runtime figures are provided either, which would have been good to know for a sander tool.

We can expect this to be available September 2024 for $119 as a baretool PBLSD01B and $169 as a kit PBLSD01K1 with 2ah battery and charger.

Ryobi 18V HP Brushless Compact Router – Features
Next on the list is another woodworking tool, the Ryobi 18V HP brushless compact router. Ryobi has about a dozen of these cordless trim routers and this one is part of their powerful HP brushless lineup. Ryobi says this model can effortlessly cut through tough hardwoods with precision. It’s also built with durable die-cast construction for a solid build.
These compact routers, also known as trim routers, are good for lighter duty routing projects like routing corner profiles. This model offers variable speed control with an included variable speed dial and on/off switch. Dual LED lights are included in the base to help in low light.
It has a micro-adjust dial to dial in the exact height of the routing bit used for the project. It also has a quick release lever for easy base removal.
A vacuum dust adaptor is included so you can pair with a vacuum for efficient dust control when working. No runtime figures are mentioned.

This router will be available in August 2024 and will be priced at $129 as a baretool PBLRR01B and $179 as a kit PBLRR01K1 with a 2ah battery and charger.
