Ryobi 18V 10 Inch Variable Random Orbit Buffer – Features

Ryobi is no strangers to cordless buffers and has a few to choose from. I even reviewed their previous 18V 10 inch orbital buffer and  thought it was a good tool. This new cordless 18 volt model is very similar to the original and is a random orbital buffer with 10 inch pad. Random orbital means that in addition to spinning, the pad also has an orbital motion. Just like a random orbit sander does to minimize swirl marks and is effective at doing so.

Where this model one-ups the original, is in the fact that it has variable speeds. There’s a variable speed dial for speeds between 2,000 – 3,600 OPM.

It has a semi circle handle good for gripping with both hands. Doing so is great for buffing vertical surfaces.

At the rear you’ll find a new handle grip which helps make it easy to grip and buff horizontal surfaces like the roof or hood of your car.

Just like the original 10 inch model, it has a foam pad which you can wrap with different bonnets. It comes with two bonnets. One to apply things like wax, and another bonnet to buff the haze away.

Being a buffer, you can use it to buff not only cars but also for applying polish on just about anything. Including polish to your countertops in your kitchen.

It still runs on a brushed motor but gets very good runtime. Ryobi states it can get up to 2-1/2 hours of runtime. They didn’t mention which battery or speed they used to get that runtime figure. But since it comes with a 4ah battery in kit form, it was probably with that battery and on the lowest possible setting.

Ryobi says it will be available in June 2023. Although I see that I can get it delivered as soon as tomorrow to my location if I order online. The current online prices at time of writing are $49.97 for the baretool and  $119 for the kit with 4ah battery and charger.
