Ryobi 40V 8Ah Battery OP4080A
Ryobi’s largest battery used to be the 7.5ah battery so the new 8ah battery tops it by just a little with slightly more capacity yet at a slightly smaller size than the 7.5ah battery. It has the usual 4 bar battery gauge on the front and has a dark/light gray color scheme. Ah stands for amp hours and is a measurement of capacity so this 8ah battery will last 4 times longer than a 2ah 40V battery. According to Ryobi, this new 8ah battery can charge as fast as 80 minutes with their 40V rapid charger. This new battery is already listed on the Home Depot website and is priced at $279. it should work with all Ryobi 40V power tools except for Ryobi mower models RY40180 and RY40190, possible due to it’s size and shape.

Ryobi 40V 12Ah Battery OP4012A
The Ryobi 40V 12ah battery easily surpasses the 8ah to be placed high at the top of the food chain. 12ah will provide up to 6 times the runtime capacity than a 40V 2ah battery. It’s roughly the same size and shape as the Ryobi 40V 7.5ah battery making it a chunky battery. It is said to have LED indicators which I believe are the battery fuel gauge which is covered up by the addition of a strap in the front. It is said to charge as fast as 120 minutes with Ryobi 40V rapid charger. No pricing available as it is not listed on the Home Depot website at the time of writing.
