Ryobi 80V Range
Most people are familiar with Ryobi’s 18V and 40V power tools but did you know they also have an 80V range? Yes indeed they do and they offer several ride on mowers. We recently wrote about the two latest additions to that range, the 42″ and 46″ riding lawn tractors. They also have a new 80V walk behind mower, a large 30 inch model which we will be checking out in this article.
Ryobi 80V HP Brushless Whisper Series 30″ Cross Cut Self Propelled Lawn Mower – Features
Unlike the other mowers in the 80V system, this is not a ride on mower.
As shown above, it is a walk behind mower. You walk behind to guide and provide the pushing power. Thankfully it’s also a self propelled mower as well. This means that it can push itself. You still need to be behind it to guide it though when in self propelled mode. The self propelled mode comes in handy for when you get tired and also for going uphill. The self propelled mode is variable speed and rear wheel drive.
At the heart of the 80V system is the 80 volt 10ah battery. This battery is shaped like a small brief case and slots into the mower in question. This battery is also cross compatible with any mower in the 80V range meaning you can swap between different style 80V mowers.
The included battery allows for up to 90 minutes of runtime or about 1 acre or less. The included hyper charger is able to charge it in under an hour.
Unlike most walk behind mowers, this one has a massive 30 inch cut capacity. This is done thanks to two brushless motors each pushing a set of blades. Ryobi says it has power equivalent to a 223cc gas mower.
Each motor has two blades which Ryobi calls their cross cut system for “superior cutting performance”. The 30″ deck is made of polypropylene material and covered by a lifetime warranty.
It includes a bag for three in one mowing. It can “slice and dice” grass and side discharge, mulch, or bag. Includes everything you need out of the box for all three! Ryobi says it has easy bag removal.
Being a battery powered mower, it has easy push button starting and a large headlight for night time or super early morning mowing. Also has 10 position single point height adjustment (1″ – 4″).

This mower is also part of their Whisper Series line of outdoor power equipment. This means that it is quieter, quieter than what? Ryobi says it is about 70% quieter than gas mowers.

No specific launch date was mentioned. However Ryobi does say we can expect this mower Spring 2023. It will be priced at $1,999 as a kit RYPM8010.
