Milwaukee has announced their latest cordless circular saw they claim is the most powerful and fastest in its class, the newest version of the M18 Fuel 7-1/4″ rear handle circular saw. Let’s check it out below.
Milwaukee M18 FUEL 7-1/4″ Rear Handle Circular Saw 2930-21HD
We first learned about the OG Milwaukee M18 Fuel 7-1/4″ rear handle circular saw (Gen 1) back in 2019 which not only did Milwaukee claim it to be on par with a corded worm drive, it claimed it was stronger and faster too. Of course, most cordless rear handle circular saws look like worm drive saws – but aren’t. In fact they are just a regular sidewinder in disguise in the style of a worm drive. (With Skil being the exception – as they have a true cordless worm drive.)
With the competition getting stronger and stronger, it appears it was time for Milwaukee to come out with a new rear handle model. In fact they claim that their latest Gen 2 M18 Fuel 7-1/4″ rear handle model is the most powerful and fastest in class. Heck, they even compare it to higher voltage 40V and 60V models which you’d think are more powerful – while Milwaukee claims theirs actually has more power to cut faster than the others.
Milwaukee says this new rear handle circular saw puts out 6,000 RPM (no load) and a massive cut cut depth of 2-5/8″ and the power to cut it easily. I don’t doubt it as I tried their 2nd Gen M18 Fuel sidewinder and it was one of the top performers at the time, even outperforming a competing brands 36V rear handle model!
What I find crazy was that in Milwaukee’s press release notes and images they provided me, there were multiple pictures of their latest rear handle saw with the blade set to the max cut depth and burying it in several pieces of OSB. They’re basically saying it has the huevos to max out its cut depth and do it with confidence.
This bad boy is feature packed, let me tell you. A powerful brushless motor, cast magnesium shoe and blade guards for durability and lower weight, rafter hook, bevel angle capacity up to 57 degrees with detents at 22.5 and 45 degrees, electric brake, rotating dust port, and led light.
I didn’t see any mention of a dust blower but I’m pretty certain it’s most likely included as their previous models have it. It also doesn’t have any wireless tech like their VACLINK which I thought would be a great addition to use with their VACLINK equipped dust extractors for use indoors. Also no mention of having ONE-KEY functionality either.
Another feature that makes this model better than their previous model is that it’s lighter now at 8.3 lbs as a baretool for less fatigue throughout the day.
Runtime figures are great, now claiming it can make up to 700 cuts per charge with a Forge HD12.0 battery, although they didn’t mention what dimension of lumber. Most likely 2×4.
You can expect it to launch in June 2025 and will be priced at $449 as a kit with Forge HD12.0 battery and rapid charger and $279 as a baretool.
