Ryobi’s latest inflators in this article are battery powered only and high pressure low volume inflators. In layman’s terms, it means they inflate car tires, bike tires, and basketballs. Anything with high pressure and low volume. They won’t inflate air mattresses as those are the opposite and instead need high volume, low pressure. Because it’s a tire inflator only, it makes it a rather compact unit.
Small enough to fit in a small storage bag and even be handheld. Yet strong enough to go up to 150 PSI and has enough juice to top off up to 8 car tires from about 30 to 35 psi.
This inflator not only tells you what the current tire pressure is, but you can also set the desired tire pressure and it will turn off when it is reached. Basically set it and forget it. It also has presets for different vehicles like car, bike, motorcycle, and sports balls. The display shows you current and set PSI along with remaining battery.
What makes it a smart inflator? Good question! I think it has to do with the fact that this has customizable presets and it can memorize them so they’re ready for you next time. For example, lets say the built in preset for your car is close but not exactly what your manufacturer recommends, you can adjust it to the recommended PSI and it will remember that next time you decide to top up again.
This inflator also has a built in LED light to help you with night time roadside repair. Trust me, this is an excellent feature to have when you need it.
This inflator is also part of the Ryobi USB Lithium lineup of power tools. It uses their USB Lithium user replaceable battery, two of them to be exact. I always like the idea of user replaceable batteries for their benefits. They can be swapped out quickly for a fresh pair instead of having to be inactive while it charges. Also if the battery no longer works, the battery itself can be replaced instead of tossing the whole unit.
It comes with a detachable hose and adapters for use with high end bike tires and sports balls with on board storage for them all.
I think one of the biggest benefits of this compact inflator would be as a bike tire inflator. Its small size makes it very portable. Though not quite as compact or light as a bike specific inflator, I’m sure this unit is far faster if you don’t mind the larger size and weight.
It also works great as a portable car tire inflator. I suspect a larger unit would be faster at inflating but I’m sure this little guy would do fine for its intended use to top off tires here and there and chug along if even needed to completely fill a tire.

And also doesn’t have the smart memory features. It still has the different presets for car, motorcycle, bike, sports balls, and you can change the preset values, it just wont remember them next time. It’s also a bit lower in price.
