Hikoki Multivolt Right Angle Joist Drill

Hikoki Multivolt Right Angle Joist Drill spotted

The Hikokinz instagram page shows a new cordless Hikoki brand right angle joist style drill. It shows a quick video of a young user trying it out drilling a hole into some lumber. Click here to check it out.

It looks much like a Milwaukee Hole Hawg but in Hitachi/Hikoki/Metabo HPT green. As most of you may know, Hitachi tools were rebranded as either Hikoki or Metabo HPT depending whether you are in the USA or not. Going back to it being a Milwaukee Hole Hawg look-a-like, it resembles more of their super Hawg model and follows a similar overall design.

It has a similar top and side handle as well. I can’t confirm whether it’s using regular 18V batteries or their larger Multivolt batteries but my guess is with the latter. It’s most likely a 36V Multivolt tool as Milwaukee is the only brand at the moment that I can think of that has a Super Hawg right angle joist style drill in 18V. I know other brands like Hercules have a 18V/20V model similar to the M18 Hole Hawg, but I specifically meant the larger Super Hawg style of variant. Other brands have cordless offerings but at higher voltages. But if I’m wrong, be sure to let me know in the comments section below as I would love to hear about it.

I couldn’t find anything else on this new cordless tool. I looked up the Hikoki NZ website and didn’t see it there. This just means it hasn’t been listed yet. I don’t know what the features are. The Milwaukee M18 Super Hawg version has two speeds and a brushless motor and come in keyed and QUIK-LOK chucks but I don’t know if this model will have any of these features. All I can tell is that it features a keyed chuck, most likely 1/2″. Keyed chuck means that it uses a key that’s basically a gear and handle to tighten and loosen the chuck.

While the Hikoki brand isn’t available here in the USA, the good news for us folks is that there’s probably a good chance this tool might eventually make its way here as a Metabo HPT branded tool.

A big thanks to Joshua B. for spotting!
