Ryobi 18V battery - Tool Craze

The latest Ryobi news involves them upgrading and simplifying their 18V ONE+ battery lineup. Let’s check them out below.

Ryobi says that going forward they are phasing out their existing standard tier 18V lithium ion batteries to a more simplified battery lineup.

Also all their batteries will now feature their Intellicell Electronics which they claim is a smarter power and runtime management system that helps to maximize performance and runtime – even during demanding applications. Also, all their 18V batteries will feature COOL-CORE heat management tech so they run cooler and deliver longer runtime.

So their 18V ONE+ HIGH PERFORMANCE batteries will be rebranded simply as: 18V ONE+ Lithium batteries. No special naming convention.

And their 18V HIGH PERFORMANCE EDGE batteries will be rebranded as 18V ONE+ Lithium EDGE batteries.

All their batteries even these newer ones are all compatible with all Ryobi 18V ONE+ tools.

Ryobi claims this change serves to upgrade and simplify their battery lineup.

The change goes in effect starting August 2026 though I expect there to be the current stock of previously named batteries still for sale until they sell out.
