What Is Milwaukee M18 Fuel QUIK-LOK?

The Milwaukee M18 FUEL QUIK-LOK system consists of a power head – think about the user end with motor, handle, and battery mount and controls. This power head is powered by Milwaukee’s M18 batteries. By itself, the power head does nothing. But when you attach an attachment head, it becomes a complete tool. When the M18 FUEL QUIK-LOK system came out, there were several heads including an edger, pole saw, string trimmer, and articulating hedge trimmer. This meant you can have one tool and the ability to have additional functionality.

The upsides are that it is more cost effective and takes up less storage than several individual tools. The downsides are the time and hassle of swapping attachment heads every time you need to complete a different task. Also, regardless of how many attachment heads, if you only have one power head then you essentially only have one tool you can use at a time. You can’t use the string trimmer while your buddy uses the hedge trimmer attachment unless you have an additional power head and so on.

Milwaukee M18 Fuel QUIK-LOK Blower Attachment 49-16-2793

This attachment ads a blower to the QUIK-LOK system. It’s actually quite capable for a blower producing 500 CFM at 120 MPH. This attachment is actually more powerful than their OG blower model!

It does look a bit cartoony using a blower with the backend of a string trimmer but being on a stick gives the blower added reach which adds to blowing effectiveness. The tip is nozzle accessory capable.

Milwaukee M18 Fuel QUIK-LOK Reciprocator Attachment 49-16-2794

This is quite an interesting attachment head. Before writing about this, I had no idea what it was or what it was for. After doing some research, here are my findings. The best way I can describe it is if you were to combine an hedger, brush cutter, string trimmer, and hedge trimmer into one tool – this is what the end result would be. It operates just like a hedge trimmer in that it has two blades with one reciprocating next to the other – thus providing the cutting action. Except that instead of long straight blades, it has two circular blades. The reciprocating action is produced by oscillating the one blade.

As far as uses go, it can do the same tasks as an edger and brush cutter and a string trimmer as well. Where this tool excels at is that it doesn’t kick grass, dirt, and debris to anywhere near the same extent as an edger, brush cutter, or string trimmer would. This comes in handy if you don’t want to spray debris as you cut. This is the ideal tool if you want to edge the grass near a rock garden for example. You can also run it along the edge of items without chewing them up as a string trimmer would.

This particular model uses 9″ blades and offer a 1/2″ cut capacity. This attachment head comes with a shoulder strap for ease of use.

Milwaukee M18 Fuel QUIK-LOK Hedge Trimmer Attachment 49-16-2796

One of the original M18 FUEL QUIK-LOK attachments was a hedge trimmer attachment. The OG model was an articulating head model. This new model is just a straight head and shaft with no articulation. If you need an articulating head, buy the original. Otherwise this model gives you the option to buy a straight head and shaft version.

It has a 20 inch blade and cut capacity of 3/4 inch with 3,500 SPM and a total length of 41.2 inches. It features a tip guard to prevent damage to blades. This attachment optimizes gearing for hedge trimming applications.
