Hikoki Multivolt 36V 235mm (9-1/4″) Circular Saw C3609DUMW4Z
Here in the America, the most common circular saw blade size is 7-1/4″ inches. There are other sizes most of them being smaller but they also come in larger sizes too. However the larger circular saws are more specialty tools and as such aren’t that common. This applies to corded variants and even more so with cordless. But thanks to tech advancements in the last decade, it’s been possible to make large circular saws cordless. Makita is an excellent example of this as they’ve have some 10-1/4″ and 9-1/4″ cordless circular saw models.
Hikoki (Metabo HPT) now has their own variant of a large cordless circular saw with the Multivolt 36V 235mm (9-1/4″) Circular Saw model C3609DUMW4Z. This bad boy’s stand out feature is the large 235mm (9-1/4 inch) blade.
The large blade makes it a hefty boy. The large blade isn’t just to win “mine is bigger than yours” contests. The larger blade provides a larger cut capacity than a 7-1/4″ blade model. In fact, this Hikoki has a large 86mm (3.38 inch) cutting depth at 90 degrees. This means you can easily cut lumber considerably thicker than 2x. This saw also has a brushless motor to power through thick cuts.
Features include a dust chute that doubles as a vac port for better dust management. It has a die cast aluminum shoe and magnesium blade guards (which is what I assume a safety cover means). The gear cover is also magnesium so it’s good to see they’re using premium light and strong metals. Weight comes in a 5.6 kg (12.34 lbs), so not that much heavier than a 7-1/4″ model.
The shoe is compatible with guide rails from Hikoki, Metabo, Mafell, Bosch, Festool, Makita, Hilti and other brands. This means you can use it track saw. This will allow for effortless straight cuts, even if you have the caffeine jitters.
Other features include an LED light, electric brake, soft start, 6,000 no load RPM, and a dust blower.
