Makita 40V Max XGT Microwave MW001G – Features

Makita 40V Max XGT Microwave MW001G

This is the first battery powered microwave I’ve ever heard of. It’s powered by Makita’s 40V Max XGT batteries to provide up to 500 watt microwaving. Sure, the power pales in comparison to standard microwaves but take it easy on this guy as it’s main benefit is that it’s portable and doesn’t need to be plugged in to operate.

It only needs one 40V battery to operate however it has two battery bays so you can use up to two batteries to extend the runtime. It will automatically switch between batteries when in use. Runtime is said to be up to 15 minutes at 500 watts when paired with two 4ah batteries. You can get up to 35 minutes of runtime if paired with two 8ah batteries.

Interior compartment is rated at 2.1 gallons. This may seem like a lot but is quite small for a microwave. It’s just big enough for a small plate, bowl, hot pocket, frozen dinner, etc. One feature that’s missing is a turntable. Turn tables are good because they rotate the food as it cooks for even cooking. Otherwise you’ll have to turn it yourself every so often if you want your food to be evenly cooked.

It has a backlit display and has buttons for start/stop and a knob to select how much time to nuke your food. You can also select between 500 and 350 watts. The display shows the cook time as a timer and also displays each batteries remaining charge level. It has a large carry handle on top for easy transport.

There’s even a handy dandy USB port on the front to charge your phone and tablet on the go.

Makita 40V Max XGT Brushless 6-1/2″ Circular Saw GSH05 – Features

Before brushless motors made a splash in the power tool world, cordless circular saws were commonly 6-1/2″ models. Makita already offers plenty of 7-1/4″ and even 10-1/4″ cordless circular saws, however they needed a smaller compact 6-1/2 inch regular model (not a track saw) to round out their 40V XGT lineup.

That’s what we have here boys and girls, a regular 6-1/2″ 40V circular saw as part of their 40V XGT lineup. It may be a more compact circular saw but it still has grunt with its strong brushless motor. It still has a solid cut capacity of 2-1/4″ at 90° and 1-5/8″ at 45°.

The smaller blade size helps it achieve a more compact saw in a lightweight design at only 7.9 lbs with 4ah battery. This will no doubt make it easier to carry for long work days than a larger saw.

It also benefits from being a left blade circular saw which makes it better for right handed users like myself and most of the population.

This is a premium saw as it features full magnesium shoe and blade guards, a strong brushless motor, rafter hook, rear dust chute, LED light, AWS for wireless use with other Makita Auto-start wireless system enabled dust extractors. Once connected via AWS, the AWS-equipped dust extractor will automatically power on or off when the AWS-equipped cordless tool starts or stops, running only when the tool is in use. This increases productivity on a single charge and reduces continuous noise at the job or work site.

It also features a 0-50° bevel capacity with positive stops at 22.5°, 45°, and 50°. It can get up to 290 cuts in 2×10 SPF lumber with a single 4ah battery.
