Ryobi 18V Heat Pen – Features

Ryobi 18V Heat Pen

The Ryobi 18V heat pen might seem like a strange contraption at first sight. It’s cordless because it runs on 18V battery power but then again it has a cord to hold its two piece design together. A tethered heat gun? Yes, and this is because the body is more compact than a regular heat gun. This means it can fit into spaces that a regular heat gun can’t.

Ryobi 18V Heat Pen

The design of this heat pen reminds me a lot of Ryobi’s 18V rotary tools that have the small handheld tool tethered by a wire that leads to the battery base. We see a similar concept here. This also makes the heat gun portion lighter to hold since the battery and base are separate. This design might make more sense to someone who would think Ryobi’s regular 18V heat guns might be too heavy.

Since this is a heat gun just more compact, it can do what a regular heat gun can such as heat up stuff. Heat guns are great for removing stickers cleanly, paint transfer, heat shrink tubing, and others.

This heat pen has dual temperature settings of 450F low and 750F high.

It also comes with two nozzles, a deflector and spreader nozzle. Ryobi says the nozzles can be stored onboard the tool for easy access and storage. The battery base also acts as a stand for the heat pen for storage and also hands free use.

The deflector nozzle is an excellent choice for heat shrink tubing.
